The Indiana Synchro Edges is
beginning their inaugural year after competing for seven seasons as the circle
City Flames. The team is the only Central Indiana Synchronized Skating Team;
with skater from five different local rinks. Our skaters range in age from eight
to eighteen, and we are proud to represent six different high schools and many
different junior, middle, and elementary schools from throughout central
Indiana.
We are a skating organization with
two teams competing at different levels. The Teen intro USFS Team will compete
in events in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois and at the Midwestern Sectional
Event in Dallas, Texas. Our Youth Team is currently in the developmental stage
and will do exhibitions locally and in the Midwest. The teams practice twice a
week and a Learn to Synchro Skate class is offered on Saturdays at the Arctic
Zone.
Although winning is our ultimate
goal; camaraderie among the skaters, good sportsmanship, teamwork and advancing
skaters' skills are paramount to our success.
We are fortunate to have
incredible resources available to us. We are coached by 1988 Indiana Olympian
Kim Seybold Catron who instills the value of hard work and teamwork while
maintaining a level of fun and enjoyment for the skaters. We have the added
value of working with National and International Synchro Coach Vicki Korn of
Miami University who will be doing our chorography. Being able to train with two
such notable individuals in the world of skating is truly a valuable experience.
The skaters will also be perfecting their overall on ice performance with local
actors, musicians, and dancers.
We are active in the community as
well. This year our skaters were part of the Fishers' Freedom Festival parade
and will also be participating in community service activities throughout the
year. We foster team spirit with team bonding events such as pizza parties, swim
parties and various other team outings both here, at home, and while we are
traveling.
Synchronized skating is, as some
say,
"the future of figure skating"
and we are thrilled to be part of that future.
